Monique Claitor, RAC IOP Counselor

Monique was born in Marksville Louisiana, graduated High School in 1983 and moved to Baton Rouge. She completed nursing school and began nursing in the Pediatric, Orthopedic, emergency room and Vascular surgery areas. In 1994 she moved to Little Rock Arkansas to pursue a field in Reimbursement Administration, running the University of Arkansas medical center as Director of Reimbursement. Monique returned to Baton Rouge in 1996 and worked at Our Lady of Lake as an administrator of the Internal Medicine Clinic.

Monique began her personal journey with recovery in 1992. She loved the AA fellowship from the very start, became very active helping other women and men to achieve sobriety.

Monique became a counselor in training as a CIT (counselor in training) in 2010 and worked at The Hope Center in Marksville, then moved on to Woodlake Addiction Residential Center in Ethel, Louisiana. She left Woodlake to pursue her dream of owning a treatment center and in 2013 she opened Serenity Center of Louisiana. She tested to become a Registered Addiction Counselor in Baton Rouge and passed her exam. With plans to retire, Monique sold the center in 2019.

Her plans changed when she lost her husband of 25 years in April 2024. After some time went by and she adjusted to life without him, she wanted to go back into the field of helping others with alcohol abuse and drug addiction, Monique wanted to work for The Grove and called Denise Thibodeaux and sent her resume. After some time, a position opened at the IOP Campus of The Grove and the rest is history.

Monique loves helping others, it gives her a sense of Divine Purpose and is happy starting again in this field with The Grove.

On the darkest days, when I feel inadequate, unloved and unworthy, I remember whose daughter I am, and I straighten my Crown.
